Abby has been working on the edible garden tour article. She talked with Teri Glembin and a couple of other people about Market Day for the article she is writing. Rachel took photos. Abby and Cheryl have an interview with Timo in Finland on Friday at 8:30 a.m. She has also been working on Wikipedia.
Matt said that the strat plan is very close to being completed. He and Cheryl are working on the envelop. He is also working on the Night/Day ad and the Foundation thank you. Matt is working on Wikipedia citations and pictures (!) He is working on adding a spotlight picture. He has NSF footage and will be taking more this weekend with Cheryl. Other projects include the wine project, engineering card, alumni identity, and phone director cover. We discussed the Bridge and having a team meeting about that next week or the following week if next week is filled with NSF.
Kathleen has been shepherding the Bridge along and trying to line up interviews. Cheryl will take Jesse Bodell and Christiana will take Mark Phillips. Kathleen interviewed Anne Dutton today for the Bridge. She will interview Lisa Fitzpatrick next week about the aquarium project for the homepage. She is working on the next issue of Currents and, along with Christiana, keeping the story ideas up to date.
Christiana has been updating Area Voices regularly. The classic rock music poster article got a lot of hits. Cheryl asked her to bring stats to the next meeting. Christiana has been working on Wikipedia and news releases - including what is going on at Glensheen in July. She is researching camps on campus. Cheryl suggested a homepage article on the experts list including five faculty with great websites. Christiana will update Crisis Plan with new head of police. She is also working on ideas for Champ Goes Green.
Cheryl said that UMD will be at the State Fair on Sun. 8/28. Cheryl is working on an op-ed for Dr. Black.
Thurs am. I worked on citations for the Wikipedia article. I got to 75. I added a couple alumni who each had five books. The Sami women arrive today at 3:45 pm and that event is this eve. Brett's got a new homepage pic that should go up today. I am happy, excited and grateful!
ReplyDeleteMy office is flooding!
ReplyDeleteok maybe not flooding. I've got a bit of a leak coming through the ceiling tiles. facilities just got down here!
Updated the strategic plan with new changes from Lucy. Printed out a black and white copies.
ReplyDeletePrinted a night and day ad just for Christiana to take a look at because she was a little left out... :(
Went to the Multimedia hub and extended the camera reservations and got an extra battery for the weekend.
Edited Wikipedia a bit. Started Dr. Black's page. Not sure what to do with his photos. I have to make them free use for them to be usable on Wikipedia.
Edited the Video from Fond Du Lac. We have a good minute or so of usable footage.
I spent a lifetime on wikipedia and then I think I lost two lives once I realized that some faceless editor decided all of my hard work was worth deleting. Apparently listing our majors in an attractive layout is frivolous and not necessary...? I'd like to meet this nameless editor and go grizzly.
ReplyDeleteAnyway. Worked on the Homepage Story that I dubbed "Explore the Shore" and wrote a couple small paragraphs about kayaking and rock climbing. Made me antsy sitting at my desk. Pulled photos from different places and I'm luke warm about the layout but it will do for now. I'm looking forward to Kathleen's thoughts--I miss her terribly on Thursdays.
Discussed a few things with Abby--Market Place, photos, and the importance of laughing. Actually, I don't think we talked about laughing but we definitely laughed and thus proved the point.
Sent e-mails about the upcoming Maritime Festival. Sea Grant is in, not sure about LLO, but no Tweed arts and crafts this year. Alas.
And thank you, Matt, for making an effort for me to see the ad (:
Well, PR&M team, I will miss you over the long holiday. I hope all of you have time to relax. I'm kicking off my shoes on Sunday, grass between toes, and looking through picture books in the great wide open. See you Tuesday!
Made a map of the Edible garden for Christiana. Emailed it to her.
ReplyDeleteLooked at Wikipedia Elkevbo seems to have removed the list of majors again.... I tried to find somewhere in the rules to make it ok for us to keep it but couldn't.
Came up with a few options for Minnesota Monthly. Emailed brett about some photos for it.
Worked on Dr. Black's Wikipedia page... Added photos etc. Reviewed the footage from Fond Du Lac again and looked at the footage from 6/25.
Phone directory cover.
tried to get figure out the Bridge website... Just to make sure i know how it works if we want to change it.
The Sami event was AMAZING! Thanks to all for your support. Standing room only, people stayed for over an hour to ask questions. Very successful.
ReplyDeleteToday I sent out the director of police info change to everyone on the crisis list.
Nailed down the final start locations and times for the NSF. YES! Jenna Ross from the Strib IS COMING to the Blue Heron on Thurs. Yippee. That's another big one for our very full scorecard.
Brett is going to move into his new space on July 15 so we need to move out 1) the student computer and 2) the color printer. I found a printer stand we can buy and I'd like your ideas on where to put those two items. Whatever we do, everything could change in August.
Abby did the first draft of the Timo story and I polished it up. Sent it to him, so it could be ready next week. It was fun to Skype.
Am off with Matt tomorrow to film at Red Cliff and then am taking the Sami women to Bemidji.
Next week NSF! My two big days are Thurs and Fri.
Have fun on the 4th.
Christiana and I went through the story ideas and updated that document.
ReplyDeleteI edited Abby's Market Day article, Christiana's RSOP article, and the Timo Rahkola article. Brainstormed with Cheryl on an email that she was working on regarding NSF.
I checked Currents and umdnews emails and took appropriate action.
Cropped photos for the homepage and began to write the 60 words.
We are going to move the color printer into my office. I spoke with ITSS, and they will send someone over tomorrow morning to take care of it.
busy day today....
ReplyDeleteMet with Cheryl about Strategic plan, Phone directory, NSF.
Imported footage of the Pow Wow and downloaded footage from francis
Tracked down Marsha's Hard Drive, copied all the footage to Marsha's Hard Drive.
Fixed a few problems on the Strategic Plan.
Met Marsha Walton from NSF at NRRI. It is going to be a great week. Talked to Betty about bringing legislators to campus and floated the idea to leadership but the timeline is too close.
ReplyDeleteMet with Lucy about the organization chart and started making revisions.
Things to do, send messages to campus about the campus directory. Start the order for boulevard banners.
We should add photos and a short line about a few research institutes to Wikipedia. I'd like to let Dr. Black know we fixed it. Thanks to all for that.
I need to do the Sami event report and send thank you notes to all.
Dr Black returns tomorrow and I'd like to have the final Strategic Plan to him so we can go to print.
Lots of good stuff happening this week. Thanks to all.
