We reviewed articles that are going up today (Brenna Oelfke, Jim Eishen and Blue Heron "point to"). We will move the LSBE Retail Marketing Analytics homepage article up since the media release has now gone out. Kathleen will change it in google docs.
Christiana wrote the media release on Bob Sherman and is waiting for his O.K. Then it can be sent out. She is cleaning up the video she took at the AdFed Random Person Project presentation. Christiana went over some stats regarding the DNT blog. People are either finding it through the DNT or doing a web search looking for it.
Matt showed us the strat plan brochure. He is waiting for feedback from Denny Falk. In the meantime, he is working on making the brochure even more visually appealing. He is also working on the Foundation Thank You wrap (yum). He has been working on the RSS feed. Lastly he put all the 20 words on the media release page (which now looks gorgeous.
I ran out of time to blog yesterday so everyone gets two blogs today for the price of one.
ReplyDeleteMonday - Abby came in, and we set up a tentative schedule for her. She will be able to cover phones for Sheila each day from 12:30 - 1:30. I gave her a tour of Darland's third floor and introduced her to most of the people in University Relations. We reviewed the Marketing/Communication page, the blog, and the stories ideas. She took the Princeton Review article and contacted Mindy Granley for an interview about that.
I updated story ideas. I set up a web page for the Random Person Project. Edited the Sarah Polema article just a bit.
Tuesday - Abby was sick today. She came in for a while, because she had an intern seminar that she had to attend but she didn't answer phones as she was so sick. I was available to answer phones while the department had their meeting, however the phones never rang so that was an easy gig. Abby had to reschedule with Mindy.
I confirmed with Tricia that the Blue Heron article could go up on the homepage today. Bill Wade concurred.
Christiana and I reviewed homepage articles. I wrote the 60 words for all three articles. Cropped photos. Sent changes to Andy and updated the news page index.
Finished the Random Person webpage. Added photos and links.
Checked umdnews email and updated story ideas. I shared story ideas from the umdnews email site so it is easier to just update the goggle document.
We had our team meeting. I wrote up notes.
Abby was still sick so she took the day off.
ReplyDeleteI began the next issue of Currents. I sent an email to the Planetarium to see if they had shows scheduled in June and July as the only listing they had was for May and early June.
We had our all staff meeting. I took notes. I will write those up next week and send them to Cheryl so she has them when she gets back.
I put the LSBE Retail Marketing Analytics article on a dreamweaver page. Alumni wanted it for the View so I sent the link to them with a cropped photo. I emailed LJ and Praveen regarding a contact for the article if people want to learn more.
I put Fatima's Rania article on a dreamweaver page. I think it could use a stronger UMD angle so I will contact Amy Shuster next week to get a bit more about that.
Yesterday I updated Google Docs after meeting with Kathleen. We attended the staff meeting and were interrupted by a fire alarm. We now know where to go in case of an emergency.
ReplyDeleteCity of Duluth called and asked for 2011 statistics about UMD. Kathleen suggested Tim Holst and Nancy Burley. After a lot of searching and head scratching (because no one wanted to say exactly what the stats were but they were very happy to direct me to numerous web pages), I figured it out. Today, Thursday, I sent the numbers to Maureen Langguth, the city of Duluth financial analyst.
I looked into the blog stats, made note of the posts most frequently visited.
Today I am hoping to hear back from Bob Sherman with approval for the news release. I would like to send that out today. I am working on the random person project media release--hopefully done by tomorrow but I do like having another set of eyes for editing so I might wait until Kathleen has had a chance to look it over.
The Marketing and Analytics degree program is on the front page of the DNT today--upper fold. Nice work, PR and Marketing team!!!
On a side note, the little fawn wandering around our land who was abandoned by her mama is doing really well at Wildwoods Rehabilitation. Also, my baby chicks are happy and healthy--sweetest birds on this side of the Mississippi.
Posted a blog entry on the Area Voices site about faculty awards and recipients...54 hits in four hours. So far, that is our highest record of hits and the most in only four hours.
ReplyDeleteThe sky is a really weird yellow-green color so I think rain is on its way...but anyway, 62 hits on the Area Voices blog in 5 hours. Good day.
ReplyDeleteI'm really bad at this blogging thing.
ReplyDeleteI've still been working on redesigning the Stragetic Plan it's kind of a tough design but I think it's almost done.
I am going to finish up the first draft today of the Sami Women poster that was just funded!
Hermantown just emailed a layout they need for an Ad. It is due on the 31st so I am going to get that done today too, hopefully.
Well I know this isn't a place for things I haven't done yet but.... why not?
79 hits on the Area Voices blog yesterday!
ReplyDeleteTalked to Linde from Chem/Bio Chem about the spreadsheet for Link. Everything is squared away and she'll have the information to me by next week.
I plan to edit the Homepage Story "A Mission of Peace" by Fatima, research more about blogging (reading an online handbook through the UMD library about social networking...I'd like to know how we can increase readership without inundating our audience with a bunch of blog entries. Quality not quantity) and answering calls as they come.
It's way too quiet without all of you here!! I find myself talking to my computer--like when I first saw the Area Voices blog stats I literally said "Oh WOW! How cool!" but no one was there to respond. Very sad.
I typed up the notes from last week's All Staff and emailed them to Cheryl.
ReplyDeleteI updated the team calendar. Abby will be starting at 9:30. Since Rachel Kraft started, Abby won't have to cover lunches every day when will give her more time with us.
Cropped photos for homepage changes. I wrote 60 words on all three articles.
I was contacted by Dan Hanger at Fox 21. He wanted an expert to comment on Tim Pawlenty. I gave him two names and numbers from the experts list.
Checked currents email and umdnews email.
Due to my Thirsty Pagan schedule I'll be able to stay a bit later on some days (yay!). I just finished helping Christiana compile research on an interesting project. I plan on finishing an article in this week as well.
