Zach finally heard back from Mike Montano, and it sounds like they will be meeting on Wednesday. Last week he did some research for Christiana on taconite. Today he updated legislator info for Betty.
This morning, Maeggi sat in a Skype interview with Cheryl and a woman in Chicago. That article will go into the Bridge.
Last week Kat finished her puppetry article. She did a few various projects for Christiana and Cheryl. She also worked on Currents.
Cheryl is waiting to hear about the cover for the Bridge and how that will impact the contents. The new year greeting from Dr. Black is going out this week. She will be in the cities on Wednesday.
Christiana continues to meet with people about the Vlog. She and Kathleen are meeting with Lisa Erwin on Wednesday. She is working on the FUSE Duluth project. Tomorrow she meets with the ASL Club and hopes to get an update on their involvement on The Miracle Worker. She is working on news releases on the Nissim Award and taconite tailings. She is also looking into stories about CSA farming, Lincoln Park Food Access, Scholar Athlete event and Frozen Four Women's Event. Zach will take the article on the actuary club and Kat will take the article on Eating Disorders Week.
Kathleen is working on the Bridge, Currents and the Homepage. Homepage changed out today and the new issue of Currents goes out tomorrow. She proofed the Bridge over the weekend and gave her ideas to Cheryl.
Today I worked on the Eating Disorders article by setting up interviews and some research. Also I worked on the Press Release for the students who are worked on the Annika Fundraiser by setting up interviews with them and researching Annika story as well.
ReplyDeleteI am unable to make team meetings at 1:15 or 8:00 because of a class conflict, hopefully I can find a resolution. I have also changed my hours, it is current on the schedule as of today.
ReplyDeleteI am beginning the research for the stories on Jim Paymar and also the "Saturday Evening Girls"(SEG) Pottery. I have e-mailed Lori Stoike yesterday to try and contact Mr. Paymar for an interview. Also I called and left a message for Professor Arden Weaver to set up an interview for the "SEG" story.I have made up a few questions for interviews and written a very rough skeleton for the story.
We're off into Spring Semester!
ReplyDeleteBRIDGE
I have been working on the Bridge magazine. My four alumni profiles are finally done and I'm waiting for their comments. You all did a beautiful job on the UROP section. It looks really great. The News@UMD section is really strong as well. We hope to go to print next week and they will be many more changes and tweaks before it is out the door.
NEW YEAR GREETING
The printed card is done and mailed and the Chancellor's email greeting has been sent. This was a real learning experience for me. I hope for better quality next time we do a video greeting.
I worked on the UnFair Campaign homepage story and the Holocaust Film Series. I helped Sue identify alumni for an ad campaign out of UM-TC for the legislature. I wrote a new form for other departments who need our services. We interviewed candidates for the graphic design position. They will announce that soon (I hope) but possibly not until next week. I am working with Tricia Bunten on a fundraising document. I got new computer, which is pretty good but it isn't quite set up yet. I did the Night/Day ad for the Sunday paper with Kathleen's help. I worked on Chancellor Black's messages for his webpage.
I'm off to the cities today for a meeting on the University's Capital Request to the Minnesota State Legislature and to attend a webinar "University Magazines: Transforming a Topic Into a Story." I hope to see Mandee, our past student employee at her new UM-TC job.
Yesterday I helped Kathleen put the YouTube videos into Dreamweaver for the UMD Videos webpage.
ReplyDeleteToday I worked on a news release for Christiana regarding the "New Day" music video done by a local music group and some UMD participants. I have sent it to Christiana for editing.
I received a response from Lori Stroik regarding contact information for Jim Paymar. She also sent a link to an article that was written on him by CLA after his visit this past fall. I think the article is quite thorough and I think we should select a new candidate for an Alumni spotlight.
I have e-mailed Arden Weaver as a follow-up to my phone call yesterday. I have requested to interview him about the "SEG" pottery at Glensheen.
I have been a flurry of activity today; I've got an interview set up for noon on Friday with Mike Montano, as well as two more that we haven't determined a date for, and I have a bit written so far for each of the stories I am working on; Tom Olsen, Mike Montano, and the Actuary Club.
ReplyDeleteMike Montano didn't show up today; it may have involved the weather, but either way I don't particularly mind (the story is scheduled for forever and a half from now anyways), and I was able to finish double checking the senators/house members for Betty.
