Team Meeting 1/31

Christiana is on vacation and Kat couldn't make the meeting today. Here is Kat's update:

On Tuesday Kat worked on her Anna House Foundation story and set up interviews for the Something for Annika news release. On Thursday she had interviews for the new release Something for Annika and wrote the news release.

Jess dropped a class and is now able to attend the team meetings. She is doing research for Cheryl. Jess will be helping Betty put together some portfolios this afternoon. Jess heard back from Arden about the Saturday Evening girls and will be sending Jess more info. We agreed that doing a reprint of the Jim Paymar story made more sense than having Jess do another one. She will contact LJ about someone else to interview - possibly the young man in the LSBE 30-second video.

Zach said Michael Montano had the flu last Friday and so they have to reschedule their interview. He has the Tom Olsen interview on Wed. He is waiting to hear back from someone in the actuary club. He just emailed them on Friday.

Maeggi started writing about the warrior arts studio alumna. She is waiting for some quotes from vets. Last week she proofed the Bridge. She worked on the Chancellor's column for the Bridge. She is also working on some feature story writing tips.

Cheryl said that the Bridge is very close. She will be editing the Chancellor's column. She is redesigning the post card for the Bridge mailing. She asked for ideas.

Kathleen is writing The Miracle Worker homepage article - just waiting for some info from Sherise. The homepage changes out tomorrow. She already confirmed with Cheryl what should go up. Kathleen needs to crop photos and write the 25 words. Kathleen edited the American Indian article for Cheryl. Kathleen is also working on the next issue of Currents.

  1. Today I helped Betty organize binders for the Branding Committee and I also cross-checked some lists of Minnesota Senators and House Representatives.

I have spoken with Arden Weaver and we are trying to coordinate a time for an interview. Hopefully either tomorrow or Wednesday will work for the both of us.

We have decided to re-run the Jim Paymar story from CLA since it was well written.

I also spoke with L.J. from LSBE about a student or alumni spotlight, he recommended McIsiah (Mc-Sigh-ah) Kendema, the LSBE student who was featured in the YouTube bit. I have e-mailed him and hope to have an interview with him sometime this week as well. Today was a very productive day!

    1. I wrote up some questions for when I interview Mike Montano, Thomas Olsen, and the Actuary Club. I also helped Cheryl review the Chancellor's column for The Bridge, and ran corrections on two different documents. Mike Montano had the flu on Friday, so he couldn't make it (totally wasn't ditching the interview) so I will try to work him in sometime this week, or send him the questions in an email, if he says he'd prefer that. Interview with Olsen at noon on Wednesday, should be good.

  2. I have scheduled an interview with Professor Arden Weaver for tomorrow (Wednesday) morning to interview regarding the SEG story. I also have scheduled an interview tomorrow at noon with McIsiah Kendema for the LSBE student spotlight article. He will be interviewed here in the office if possible.

I made some copies for Betty and will be delivering a few of the portfolios to the Branding Committee members who are on campus tomorrow.

I have researched for the SEG article and hope to find images of the pottery that was on display at Glensheen. So far I have not had much luck with online images and searches.

  3. Today I interviewed McIsiah Kendema and also met with Arden Weaver. Maeggie joined me for the meeting with Professor Weaver and we were able to see and learn some very remarkable things about Glensheen. The story will be very exciting to write.

I will start writing the story on McIsiah on Monday. Hopefully next week I will be able to make it down to Glensheen to get a full idea of the story. I would like to have a first draft written before I go, however.

I stapled and three-hole punched some paperwork for the Branding Committee meeting this Friday for Betty, and am going to deliver the last two binders the the faculty on campus as my last task today.

I also did some overdue security training that is required for employees.

    1. Today I held my interview with Thomas Olsen about his work for the times, and that story is nearly done. I also posed as Champ for a while, then came back and did some more final tidying up on Olsen's story. No word yet from Mike Montano or the Actuary Club, I may email Mike my questions so he can answer them on his own schedule, more easily. Will probably work out better that way than trying to finagle our timeslots to work out; I will send him them on Friday.

  4. Today I fleshed out the Thomas Olsen story a bit more, made some corrections, and double checked everything with Cheryl and Christiana. Thanks for snapping some pictures, by the way, Maeggi: I forgot to give everyone the heads up that he would be coming in, but apparently you managed it just fine.

Oh, and speaking of pictures of Thomas Olsen, the one of him that is inside the story is a little big; it fits as far as width goes, but it is really tall. Either way, see everyone on Monday.
