  1. I forgot to blog on Monday!

Last Thursday I met with the homecoming rep. and nailed down a few more details for the home page piece.

Also I heard back from the Chamber, their participation in the pep rally is unknown to them so I will be striking any mention of them in the article.

The first draft of the homecoming piece was finished Monday and is being edited today. A quote regarding the Food, Inc. presentation is still pending.

I filled in at the front desk during a meeting, helped put together Cheryl's presentation board.

I am beginning working on a piece on the ASL Club with Christiana and will be attending their first meeting next Tuesday evening!

  2. I managed to get the excell doc into something I think is (roughly) what you were looking for; Lori had computer troubles of her own, so she couldn't help me for much longer after Cheryl left (we couldn't even get the computer to read our jump drive).

  3. Oh, and it is saved to Cheryl's desktop as "student organizations.docx"; later everybody!

  4. Ah, Monday.

News releases written: Sea Grant Award; Prof. Willemsen NSF Award; and LLO NSF Award.

Attended the Homecoming meeting this morning with Jessica. The details are getting ironed out so that will help the Homepage Story that Jessica is working on. Spoke with Karen Stromme about the APEX involvement.

Posted a blog entry on the V2V Technology system--linked back to the Homepage Story.

E-mailed Kendra to confirm the ASL Club meeting tomorrow night at 6 p.m.

Worked with Cheryl and Kathleen on the PR&Marketing presentation for tomorrow at 2 p.m. Called ahead to make sure we would have a digital projector. I plan to make 50 copies of a current news release, as well as pointers on what to include in a good news release.

I still have to pay for my parking ticket and eat the Clementines that Kathleen kindly shared.

    Have a great evening, team!!

  5. Catching up on my blog... Thurs was inauguration. Nicely done. Met with all colleges about doing UROP stories. We should put them on the list. Possibly do one a week thru December.
Fri was the planetarium news conference and the FOX TV shoot at the farm. That story should air Oct 5. Zach and I interviewed Julie about her 1.2 million grant to study climate change and wild plants.

Worked on Sunday with Matt on the campus directory, the night and day ad and getting the computer ready for Sue.

Worked on the "US and torture" homepage story. Will do the Weisman one as well. I remade the presentation for our talk with new images and redid the handout. Added Sue and Betty.

Spent 4 hrs on the campus directory and we are sending it to the printer. yippee THANKS ZACH.

It's going to be a lovely fall week. Let's enjoy it.

  6. Just a big thank you to the team--nice work with the presentation today. Thank you to everyone who made copies, stream-lined the Powerpoint presentation, gave feedback, and made the project easy to deliver.

Edited and sent out news releases to media and Matt: LSBE Speaker Series and Willemsen NSF grant award.

Researched Heartwalk statistics for UMD groups. Waiting to hear back from group leaders to confirm the numbers and provide photos.

E-mailed Joyce Strand asking about the SCOPE dinner--if there is one this fall. Would be a great news release.

E-mailed Susan Mack about the engineering masters program, need details for news release.

E-mailed SFA about the Society of Promethians--need details.

Reserved the Champ outfit for a super fun photo opportunity at the UMD Farm on Thursday.

Edited Kathleen's 60 words, met with Kathleen and discussed Story Ideas--changed a couple dates because I haven't received all the stats for news releases.

Tonight I'm attending the ASL Club meeting at 6 p.m.--the first meeting ever and over 200 people signed up to join. It's going to be interesting and thought-provoking. Jessica is meeting me there and I'm excited to see the turnout.

  7. Yesterday went to the ASL meeting, many photos were taken for the article.

Picked up Champ's costume, and dealt with issues with my i-9 this morning.

This afternoon worked with final edits to homecoming article, adding quotations and working it into dreamweaver.

With final approval from my sources and Cheryl, the homecoming page should be finished and I will focus all of my energy on the ASL article.

Also I will be investigating UROP topics within CLA.
