Cheryl:
We are rolling out the Strategic Plan at the faculty breakfast. Faculty and staff will receive bookmarks with tassles. Welcome week students will receive bookmarks, no tassle (they have to earn those, you know). We are also mailing bookmarks to some community leaders.
Ianni event - the invites are at the printer. We are waiting for addresses.
The Bridge is being proofed by many people.
She is also working on the Campus directory. There will be a vendor event in the Kirby Commons for paid advertisers in late October. They will have tables and promote their wares.
Abby and Cheryl will be doing an audit of campus banners this afternoon.
Abby:
She has been doing research on sustainability minded magazines for Christiana.
She is working on the student employee/internship handbook.
Also working on the Hoagie Scholarship article.
She will be in the booth on Saturday at the Fair.
Kathleen:
Proofed Bridge again and combined various people's corrections into one copy of the Bridge.
She has been working on homepage changes, the upcoming issue of Currents, and updating the story ideas doc. She also helped with the Night/Day ad.
Betty:
She is compiling a list of issues and areas of interest for the new director when she/he comes on board. Some areas she mentioned are providing legislators with a "map" of where in the state/region students come from. Also organization of the office area and staffing issues.
Betty asked that we let her know if we had any other issues or concerns that should be added to the list. Cheryl mentioned:
- contacting new legislators who are UMD grads
- Rebranding
- expanding media coverage regionally and nationally
- meeting community leadership
- social media in a coordinated manner - video stories, facebook, twitter.
Kathleen mentioned having cost centers when we do work for other departments so that we have a better idea of where our time and resources go.
Matt:
He finished the publication handouts.
He is working on the campus directory today and tomorrow.
He will make final Night/Day ad changes and send a pdf to Cheryl.
He is correcting Christiana's name on on the website. Apparently it is wrong on our pages.
The last few days....
ReplyDeleteI've made some updates to the campus directory and have been helping other people get in to change it... late but changed.
Worked with Cheryl on Monday to get all the Bridge changes made so it can go to proof reading.
Made the Publications Handout for Cheryl. She sent it out yesterday.
Today I made two logos for different departments. It appears we still don't have the font that was used on those so... I just copied letters for now... it will work for a while... until we get a new logo?
Updated some of the Bridge Photos.
Placed the new photos from Brett of the Ianni Hall in the Bridge.
Put the Ianni Hall photos onto the cover of the campus directory. I sent this to Cheryl for her to send to the company doing the directory.
Made changes to the Night and Day. Sent to Cheryl. She will ftp this to the Tribune tomorrow.
Met with Cheryl about the Directory.... I know what I am doing now. so I can start going through it. Will be finished this week.
Organized some photos Brett had send a few weeks ago.
Will change Christiana's name!
Forgot to blog yesterday. Almost forgot today. I have been proofing the Bridge. Matt has made all the changes I found, and I am giving a fresh copy to Cheryl.
ReplyDeleteI wrote 60 words for homepage changes and cropped photos. Proofed articles on Ianni and Strat Plan.
Updated currents and checked umdnews.
We've had two of the three ext. director candidate interviews.
Booked Aliina Charging Hawk to do an Ojibwe greeting for President Kaler. That is scheduled for tomorrow at 3:00. Working with Corbin Smyth to secure another student for a greeting. Otherwise, tomorrow afternoon, Matt, Christiana and I will walk around the campus and find students!
The great thing about interviewing candidates is that we have to step
ReplyDeleteout of the whirlwind and look at ourselves from new eyes. What we see
is a group of really talented, hardworking, fun, creative people.
Major players on this campus are forced to compare our fantastic
output to other colleges and universities with bigger staffs and
bigger budgets. I am more proud than ever to work with all of you.
My blog (for the week eeek!)
Met with Fox news about the upcoming series of stories. The first is a
profile of a first year student. Jeni Eltink is working on finding
one. They are interested in the technology angle as well, smart
phones, laptops, etc. and an interview with Linda Deneen perhaps. The
student's major may help with the third person to interview. Taping
the second week of school, airs Sept 21.
Thanks for everyone's help at the State Fair. It was a great success.
Thanks to Abby, and Kristie, I sent out an email thank you with a link
to the photos.
Great job on organizing the Inauguration video!
The Bridge is done with changes and at the printer. Next task, the mailer.
Campus directory is underway. I'll swoop in for more attention on that
one next week. Matt, do we have a map from Andy yet?
Major media emergency yesterday. Thanks Kathleen for helping craft the response.
Worked on the Strategic Plan homepage story, news release and
roll-out. Rewrote the Strategic Plan homepage message.
Answered MPR, who is doing a story about enrollment and residence halls.
Kathleen and I are interviewing the new student work study person next
Wed. The intern prospect, Eliza, won't be able to work this fall,
afterall. I'll contact the writing studies and communication
departments, because we will need help.
I worked with Lucy and Corbin on a draft email about Pres. Kaler's inauguration.
Abby and I drove the campus and prepared the banner order.
I worked on the big Campus Directory days, Oct 27 and 28 in Kirby
Commons. Matt and I are going to respond to the sales company about
their cover redesign.
