Team Meeting 4/26

Cheryl and Christiana missed a fabulous meeting. Matt handed out Faberge eggs that his family received from Czar Nicholas. Thanks, Matt. Mine is simply stunning.

We reviewed articles for next week. Zach has researched and written about General Helland. Mandee is going to the entrepreneur awards tonight and will write up that article.

Kathleen and Christiana both interviewed their graduate students last week and now have to write their articles.

The last Currents of the school year is coming up. A memo was emailed via biz announcement.

Matt is busy updating the various Public Relations and Marketing webpages. He is also working on the experts list and that should go live later this week.

  1. I sent homepage changes to Andy who made them before noon.

Reviewed story ideas with Cheryl and Christiana. Proofed a letter for Cheryl and a news release for Christiana.

Updated the calendars with Zach and Mandee's additional hours for the next three weeks. I gave a copy to Cheryl, Zach and Mandee.

Since Zach hadn't heard from Jim, I researched another SFA student from Stacy Crawford's email. Zach will contact Trent Waterman.

Had our team meeting. I wrote up the notes and posted them.

Started writing my article on Linh Scally.

  2. Thanks to all. I am getting great comments about how awesome we are. Christiana and I did a news release about civil engineering demonstrations and the newspaper and WDIO came. Love the feeling when it works! Also Dance Team was in the DNT as well. Go CK!

I pitched stories to the STRIB (I love it's nickname) on Marchese and the BUDGE on commencement. Luckily for us they picked a story on medical school American Indian doctors. Year! The med school will write it.

I can hardly remember what else I've done, so I'll just talk about what I'm going to do. Zach and I are going to write the commencement overall pieces tomorrow. I'm going to start the Strategic Plan Press Release and get help from Kathleen and Christiana.

Zach just about finished sending out the crisi plan to all the players.

Matt doesn't know this yet but we need to contact the campus about the campus directory deadline in August... Just so they know before they leave in the summer.

We want to send a letter to the university about our new department on Friday. I have a draft for review.

Matt, we need to look at the Marketing Plan for next year.

Whew! Calming down a tad and we are doing really, really well. What a great team.

  3. I believe that my new name "Christiana Zorra Tarleton" deserves a Faberge egg but somehow I shall survive without one...thank you Kathleen for the meeting notes. You are splendid with such details.

Today...met with Cheryl and Kathleen and hashed out the PR and Marketing plan with cold hard numbers on what we actually deliver throughout the year. Wow!

Put out fires and fanned flames...

Called Jessica Saxton with media information in regard to the Global Action Forum and that the news release was sent twice and appeared on the blog this morning.

Wrote three news releases: Tom Johnson, Judith Trolander, and Rose Brewer. Sent out the Rose Brewer and Tom Johnson news release to media and asked Matt to post. Waiting to hear back from Judith if she has any edits for the article.

Contacted Bill Payne and requested a photo opportunity at the Webb or on the Odyssey set. Waiting for his response.

Sent the link for the online theatre course to Matt to add to the news release already posted on the news site. Thank you, Cheryl, for pointing that out.

    Things left to do today:

I am going to figure out a way to send the Google Docs "Story Ideas" to all of the directors before their weekly meeting on Wednesdays.

Request that the Language Symposium is a feature in the May 11 BRIEF.

Post another blog entry (either ACI Awards or Emily Gaarder).

Write the BRIEF for next week.

Meet with the team about the news release site. I have big hopes for a more attractive page because it's a dull dull, very dull, layout.

And if there's time, I will figure out how to post videos either through YouTube or another free video option. I plan to contact Lisa Fitzpatrick for direction.

None of this would be possible if I didn't work with such terrific people!

    Away I go!

  4. I've been forgetting to blog because I'm a horrible employee. Anyways, I finished the LaBounty Entrepreneur competition article (I think I have the spelling of that word nailed thanks to this story). Link is here: http://www.d.umn.edu/unirel/homepage/11/labounty.html

Still working on the Sarah Pollema article, but will obviously have that done before I leave.

Also, working on Currents. It should be done almost.

I'm writing down my hours for the next two weeks:
    Thurs. 4/28: 12-3pm

    Mon. 5/2: 11 am-2 pm
    Wed. 5/4: 11-4
    Thurs. 5/5-12-4

    Mon. 5/9: 10-2
    Tues. 5/10: 11-4
    Wed. 5/11: 11-4
    Thurs. 5/12: 11-4
    Fri. 5/13: 11-4

And then I'm leaving, sadly. I will miss you all though!

  8. I had a Royal Mocha this morning from the campus coffee shop...the drink was named in honor of the Royal Wedding taking place tomorrow and yes, it was quite divine. I even kinked my pinkie whilst sipping said beverage.

I finally wrote the Brenna Oelfke student profile for commencement. Kathleen edited the article (thank you Kathleen!!) and I have it on Dreamweaver, ready to go for Monday, but I would like to hear back from Brenna before it goes live.

Posted on the blog with Kathleen's Homepage Story about Emily Gaarder.

Replied back to a comment about the Heritage Orchard and then e-mailed Randel Hanson because there was a question about seedlings and cuttings for a community fundraiser. He then e-mailed Cindy Hale with the question and I am waiting for Cindy's reply. Does it ever seem like our job is really all about "he said she said they e-mailed and then I e-mailed"? I LOVE IT.

Wrote the Brief, Kathleen looked it over, and I sent it on to Adam Overland in the cities.

Waiting to hear back from Adam--he's considering a feature story on the Twin Cities campus Homepage about the online theatre course with Bill Payne and Ben Brantley. He'll let me know tomorrow if it's a go-ahead. If so, Matt will take Bill's photo someplace theatric. Thanks in advance, Matt!

Updated Google Docs Story Ideas and went over it with Cheryl. We are in good keeping, my friends. We checked everything off our Google Docs for this week--I am so proud of everyone and their awesome effort!

Last but not least, I cleaned off my desk and I'm ready for warm weather, grass between my toes, and a relaxing weekend. Have a great couple of days, everyone!

PS You will be greatly missed Mandee!!

  10. I finished Currents and printed it for Kathleen to edit. The changes were made as well.

I also wrote up a press release for Cheryl about retiring faculty and faculty awards. Kathleen is editing it.
